Well, its been awhile...how have you been?
Im back to my own quiet world. extremely busy with studies and FYP...never thought ill be THAT busy..guessed ive got lots of knowledge to catchup on after all that running around in Science Club.
Still havent had much time to really sit down for the whole day and think of things and sort out my life.
Research doesnt seem as interesting and dynamic as i thought...its intellectually stimulating, but sometimes ill get a terrible headache thinking about it. And...perhaps 3 years in Science Club does change me abit. Research totally starves me any hint of social life. These chemicals are really sapping all my time and energy away...geez
I seem to have split personalities. A sociable self and a quiet self...which is the real me? which part of me shall i develop? which path should i take?
So many things to think about...so little time. I need a holiday. It be nice to lie on a beach the whole day, looking at the boundless sea...ah..i miss the ocean.
Hmm. How have i changed over the years i wonder...

in the blink of an eye.
A year has passed since i last blogged. Have no idea of this sudden thought to blog. I have been Science Club President for almost a year now and my term is coming to an end. Wow. Time flies. Lives change. My life has been nothing short of a surprise.
I do not have time to sit down and recollect my thoughts now. Perhaps soon...i will retreat from the world and rebuild myself once again :) but before that...let me stay on in this lively world and do the very best i can do improve this place.
After all the hustle bustle in this high profile life, I kinda miss the little cave ive came out from.

that jazzy feeling
Ahh...chilling out with some good ol' jazz music in the silence of the night, drinking some hot chocolate and reading some research papers of my interest.
this is life in its beauty. and happiness in its simplicity.
NDU reservist. rag. research. studies. future planning.
still have to figure out some paths in my life as i lay out my possible plans. hmm. will need more time to think about it.
for my dreams. for my passion.
let nothing stand in my way! :)

As the cogwheels turn...
As the cogwheels turn, the fate of the subject unveils itself.
My life right now is amidst playing roles of gears and cogwheels in multiple events - SCAMP, Rag, Flag.
It definitely feels different to be part of a gear being turned compared to my previous roles of the machinist in command turning the gears in motion, but in doing so i have learnt many things in the responsibilities of both roles throughout the years in NUS.
The Gear
Gears differ in sizes and importance in the system. You can be a pheripheral gear that can be easily replaced or you can be a gear that is the epicentre of activities. It is up to oneself to prove that one can be up for the task as an important gear. And to do that, you have to fulfill your role efficiently and responsibly, even if you have to start off as the smallest and most unimportant of gears. If u cannot even perform the simplest of tasks, then you cannot be capable of more difficult ones. As a gear you are part of a larger mechanism, so do prepare to be flexible and be maneuvred around the system as the machinist reorganises the system.
Trust is a very important and probably the most difficult concept in any framework. Gears must trust each other that they can each perform their tasks and work together efficiently while fulfilling their own responsibilities. Gears must trust that the machinist knows what he is doing, vice versa.
The Machinist
The most important role in any operating system is the machinist. He who defines the motion of the system; he who defines the efficiency of the system; he who defines the purpose of the system.
One of the most important role of the machinist is to ensure that the right gear is being put in the right placed so that the gear has the opportunity to prove its capabilities and improve. Of course the machinist has to ensure that every gear is happy with the overall system and the specific roles that they play in maintaining the system. Diplomacy and Charisma plays an important role in maintaining morale. He must also be flexible as problems of different complications and magnitudes are bound to appear, each requiring a unique solution respectively.
The machinist has to make sure that every gear knows what it is supposed to do, takes pride in doing it, and be happy working with other gears as well. The most capable machinist brings the best out of the gears in his systems in working together. He cultivates the abilities of his gears such that the gears themselves will one day be capable enough to be an important gear, and even another machinist.
Easier said than done
Points mentioned above are the basic requirements a gear and a machinist must have to operate. There is no one size fit all specifics for the gear and machinist as different systems call for different combinations of capabilities and responsibilities. Many problems happen when roles of gears and machinist are not fulfilled effectively. A machinist may be so focused at a particular connection of gears that other gears may be neglected; A machinist may have lacked certain qualities that the specific system requires; or the machinist chose the wrong gears for the wrong purposes. Countlesss permutations of difficulties may happen from the machinist and gears and affect the whole operating system.
One of the qualities required to preempt problems coming would be far-sightedness and flexibility of the machinist. He will see possible problems and solve them resolutely before they snowball to uncontrollable proportions. He will also be flexible and patient to listen to criticisms and improve the system accordingly.
Both machinist and gears are by far no easy roles in different aspects as each of them play a role in the whole system. Any missing parts will cause problems, one way or another, differing in magnitude and complications.
Be it as the gear, or the machinist, do the best we can to fulfill the roles and responsibilities. Respect and take pride in our roles, no matter how big or small it might be. Be humble and learn from everyone in the team. Stand proud and do the best we can to earn the respect of others. Always remember, respect is to be earned through hard work and dedication towards every single task given to you.

Lessons to learn
Im sure the Aware saga has caused much hype in the local news. Ive definitely learnt much from this incident, on managing and leading an organization, transparency, responsibility, welfare, respect, and understanding.
Words of wisdom by the DPM puts it across aptly...
"Well, I think all sides should take away the right lessons from this and focus on wanting to serve the community and do your best.
I think there will always be differences in society; it is a question of whether we can deal with them in a sensible way, learn how to accept one another's differences and still work together for the good of the society. There are people in our society with different views and if we push them too hard, there will be a push back from the other side. You are not going to resolve some of these differences because they are strongly held and you risk polarising the society if you push too hard.
I think if you believe that what you are doing is right, well, live a good life, do good work and persuade people by how you work and live rather than pushing your ideas in a much more pushy way.
I think there are ways where we can engage with society and still live with our differences."
Food for thought. To myself, remember this and learn from it. :)
oh and exams over!!!
time to start burning some fats!!!
and time to channel all my energy to RAG, FLAG, SCAMP!!!!!

The crossroads of life
This is the time of his life.
23 years old,
Chemistry major,
passionate about his dreams,
determined of his goals,
yet uncertain about the paths in his life.
Ironic. But that is life.
He looks back.
A past so dark he would forever hide.
Yet from darkness within springs new hope, new determination.
A blinding light from his unwavering soul.
He hurls himself into the fray of life.
Healing old wounds, breaking new boundaries
Forming new bonds, cherishing old comrades.
Relooking into his past, while searching for his future.
So now he stands,
At yet another crossroad in life.
A decision that would alter his fate.
A chance to carve out his own future.
As the wheels of time turn,
The winds of change blows.
Which will be his destined path?
Or has the decision already been destined upon?
For his passion,
For his dreams,
For his goals,
For his future, he strives on.
With the promise he made to himself,
and the spirit that lives on within.
He shall never give up.
He will always move forward.
The future may not be certain.
But his heart is true.
He believes in his path,
And nothing will stand in his way.

AWESOMENESS
ahahah...amidst all this hustle bustle stress...i chanced upon an interesting and quirky quote which might help me in the future. so here it goes:
AWESOMENESS
when you are sad, dont be sad, be awesome instead
LOL. wth is it...but it sorta makes some sense. No point brooding, worrying, stressing out cuz it will not tantamount to doing anything useful...so instead of wasting time and energy being negative.....
BE AWESOME INSTEAD!
:D
For my goals and dreams, fight on!

Into the caves..
Yes i am rapidly becoming a hard-core mugger. Any free time i have i want to study, majority of the time my mind is on some chemistry phenomenon or whats my next thing to do. It tiring and lonely to be a mugger. Everyday i spend all my free slots in the library, flipping through books, reading notes, doing questions.
How i wish i can step out of the world again and make a difference to other people's lives...but i realised if i cant even take care of my own life...i can forget about stepping out. Hence the strong determination to get my inner world, and my grades back in order.
My dreams have not faltered. It has indeed gotten further with my poor grades ive accumulated over the past 3 semesters, but i am never one who gives up. Thats why the determination to get a CAP5.0. And to freaking do it..i have no choice but to bear the pain of loneliness and anti-social behaviour....sighz...i can feel my social skills being leached away in the library.
This will just be a passing phase. I will do it and i will achieve my dreams of being on the frontiers of scientific development. I will beat this system and carve out a road that belongs to my own. And as i lay in recluse.... wait for me, my friends and the world out there...when im ready ill step out once again and take the world by storm!!!

The Pace of Life
Finally, my life has started to slow itself down relative to last year. I can finally spend precious time with my loved one, my family, my friends, and myself. I can study in peace and focus on my goals in life. Wanted to blog about the wonders of chemistry but i guess its for another time...
After a hectic year i realised the importance of finding time for myself. It has always been deadline after another, events back to back, schedule fully packed..there was never a time set for myself to do....nothing - just sit back, smell the roses in the path of life, observe my surroundings, and look deep into myself.
I remember back then i really had time to walk parks, sit quietly on benches, watching clouds roll by, reflecting on my life. Although being on the forefront of leadership and discovery is always what ive dreamt of, i realised that time spent alone with myself is important too. Too often was i stucked in a whirlpool of duties, responsibilities, and tasks that i have lost track of my inner world.
So now ive learnt...to always balance my time and energy to different aspects of life. Each part plays an important role to maintaining my overall well-being and i should always seek a balance in life. Remember that.
"To be bored is to stop reacting to the external world, and to explore the internal one. It is in these times of reflection that people often discover something new, whether it is an epiphany about a relationship or a new theory about the way the universe works. Granted, many people emerge from boredom feeling that they have accomplished nothing. But is accomplishment really the point of life? There is a strong argument that boredom - so often parodied as a glassy-eyed drooling state of nothingness - is an essential human emotion that underlies art, literature, philosophy, science and even love."

memories...
Its been a long, long time...many years have past yet somehow the dust have not settled. Images of the past flashed into my mind as though it happened yesterday...the emotions, the frame of mind, the scenes witnessed, burnt eternally into memory and tortured my soul till this very day....
My heart ached so badly. Tears flow uncontrollably. I screamed.
I woke up. My eyes still wet, my heart still acheing.
Was it a dream? Was it reality? Am i really awake?
It has been some time since it happened. No one truly knew what happened. I kept everything to myself, i suffered everything within.
I went to find her for answers.
"Hi , how are you? How have you been?"
She smiled.
"Im doing fine, i guess. Ha...very busy as always..."
She smiled.
"I wished you can see how i have grown and matured into a man i am today."
She smiled.
Her eyes always looked so peaceful, so loving, so kind....
I touched her cheeks, and gently wiped her face
"....its been so long....i missed you, i really do....it wasnt easy living by, but ive stayed true to myself, my dreams, my principles to become who i am today."
My heart wrenched. My tears rolled.
"How i wished, to have you witness how ive grown, how ive matured, how ive lived my life, and tell me how proud you are of me, how happy you are for me....."
She smiled. So gentle, so beautiful...
We sat together for the rest of the day, recalling the wonderful memories we've had together....No words were exchanged as we reveled in the silence of each other's company.
I slept comfortably in her arms....I dreamed...
I woke up.
Was it a dream? Was it reality? Am i really awake?
She was still there. And she was still smiling.
"I love you..i really missed you.."
I smiled.
thank you...thank you for everything that you have done for me...you will always remain in my heart. Forever and ever.

Whats happening to me?
Something is happening within me. I have no idea why and i really want to find out, yet i have simply no time n energy to do some intense introspection. Sighz. All i feel is im tired, inside-out. I do not have the same zest and drive as i had in the past. I couldnt take up as many things as i though i could....what is happening to me????
And when my internal system sounds its alarms....all my energy will be diverted inside...resulting in me being highly anti-social nowadays...i hope my friends wont distant from me too much after ive resolved this problem.
Maybe...i just feel burnt out. Ever since i got outta NDU, ive not stopped working, for one thing or another. i still remember i acty reported to my new job the next day i ORD...then SCAMP, then RAG, then a year of directorship....then so many commitments.
Now ive learnt my lesson. ALWAYS gauge myself properly, dont bite off more than i can chew. Focus my energy on important things then consider other aspects of life.
I guess im just burnt out.
I guess i just need more time to rediscover and refine my life goals.
I guess i just need more sleep.
I need a holiday.

Someone tell me my limits!
Gosh...something i have to learn - when to know my limits and when to step out and take on challenges.
I am striving with whatever time and energy i have left to mug, mug and mug...but it still doesnt seem enough. I still have so much more that i need to know... the pursue of knowledge is indeed neverending. I seem to have over-committed myself again...with so many commitments at hand...i seriously need to control how much time and energy im spending on various stuff so that i can focus more on doing selected things properly instead of speading myself out too thin and reachin no where in the end.
Thats the thing about me, i love to challenge myself and stretch myself to the limits, at my own expense. And its usually my grades that take the first hit, then my energy, then my health....Im burning myself at both ends and im not reaching any concrete grounds.
Its time to manage my time properly and maintain my focus back to where it should be - studies. life. dreams.
Lets do it.

The beauty of sign language
Been too busy again these days :S. so much for not joining SCMC so i can have more time to study. My current commitments ive taken up saps about the same amount of time compared to when i took up the directorial role (i think. at least for now.) Well, although im very busy, i made a point to blog down this when i get the time to.
So it was on another busy saturday when i sat on the mrt. Thats when i saw a group of people communicating actively, their faces and body language tells that they were very much enjoying their conversation. No one else could understand them, no one else could hear them.
I observed curiously at their form of communication. Each had to pay attention to what the other was communicating about. They had to give their full attention and "listen". There was no sound amonst them but i feel it was a great conversation. So much more was communicated across.
How many times have we taken human relationships and communication for granted? Do we really pay attention to communicating with people? Are our minds and ears really actively open to what others are saying?
Indeed, i have learnt alot just through that small incident. Thats why i decided to write this down, and remind myself - Always listen intentively to what others are saying. Give them attention and respect.....and you will get them in return.

Im back!!!
Hello! wow its been so long since i blogged...so long that i temporily forgot my password to access to this blog account :S. I am really getting more absent-minded.
Phew..its been a hectic year 1 in NUS. Crazy days, but i enjoyed every step of it. To all those who have entered my life, i thank them for making my days in NUS such a special one. One year has gone by...i have indeed learnt alot. Be it life, human relationship, leadership, time management, studies...and so much more. Such stuff i can never learn if i were to take the path as a pure mugger (which i had contemplated upon) but i guess i felt a different calling. As much as results are important to my future, i also want to make my life an exciting and enriching one. So here i am now, in the next phase of my year 2 life.
How will it be shaped? What paths will i take along the realities of life? I can never be too sure, but one thing remains clear - I shall never give up.

How will it be shaped? What paths will i take along the realities of life? I can never be too sure, but one thing remains clear - I shall never give up.

Happiness...?
A few days ago, i chanced upon an interview on tv at CNA. It was an interview with some guy who has done research on "Happiness" and is going to give a talk about it. It was only a brief ten minute talk, but what ive gotten back was words of wisdom that will probably last a lifetime.
So, what is really is happiness? The problem with so many people is that they place the wrong perspective and measure on their happiness. How many times have u heard someone say "ill be happy if i can have...." many times followed by superficials like money, or power, or a car etc...
Actually, happiness is always within our reach, just that we are blinded by so many thing around us in life that we failed to notice what really matters. Sit down, think, recall, feel....what really, truly makes u happy? When you've got one thing, keep questioning and imagining that if u really have it, will it truly make u happy deep down?
After much thought, i realised...ive always been bogged down by grades, responsibilities, schoolwork, pressures from almost everywhere...and somehow lost sight of what matters the most, my own true happiness. Ive been busy adjusting to everyone's needs, answering to everyone else's problems that i have neglected myself.
What truly makes me happy inside...is spending quality time with someone i love,my brothers, my friends and my family. Those are the times i feel free...and just be myself. I love to have some quiet time by myself, taking walks...admiring the beauty of nature...and pursuing wisdom and knowledge. Chemistry's still my passion and i always derive fun learning it, you hardly hear me complaining about chemistry :)
With all those in mind, i shall not let other things in life get to me and bogged me down. Life is out there waiting for me to live upon. I will step out, live life, and be happy.
Happiness is a choice. Half empty or half-full, its really up to u to decide, aint it?
May whoever's reading it have some food for thought and find what truly makes u happy.
And to Dingli of the future, may you have found your happiness and stay true to it.

HI ALL :)
Hello, its beeen a looooong time since ive lastg sat down to blog. Sometimes i feel like writing something down, but after typing halfway i juz lost the mood (cuz suddenly some work or something needs my attention) and cant blog anymore. So lets just hope this post gets posted up eventually, or i have simply just wasted my time.
So, how have i been doing?
Pretty great i must say. If i were to look back 5 years from now, i would say this period is one of the times ive stepped out and really stretched my potential (although i would start to think this is also the period my grades start to falter).
Still, ive always promised myself to live life with no regrets, and so here i am. Yes my grades are definitely far from what ive envisioned it to be. But for the things ive wanted to do, the things ive wanted to try, im starting to step out. Ive taken leadership and responsibilities ive never thought i was able to handle. There are still sooo many things i want to do....so i shall never give up on my dreams and hopes. And as long as i live, i will strive harder to improve myself and that fire within me shall never be doused. ...Its only when you've lived through darkness will cherish every ray of light.....
So now...i must realy work towards my aims and goals...so here now...to whoever's still seeing this...my updates for my life. :)
Friends
It has always been great to have a buncha friends there to support u. :) im really happy that the brotherhood still stands strong after so many years. Despite our extremely busy schedule, all of us always finds that special time to spend together. It can be just a simple meal, over a coffee table, or some buffet dinner. Whatever it is, times spent with every single brother has always been heartwarming and memorable. I am who i am now because of them. But not to forget, ive made some great friends in NUS!!! they are the most fun bunch to be with and definitely the friendship with them will go on for many many years....so cheers!!! here's to all my friends and brothers!
Inner Self
Its been EXTREMELY hectic. I hardly have time to breathe. After one deadline is another and i am chasing the schedule almost everytime!!! Definitely not easy to be in SPS and ScienceClub at the same time! but well im always up for a challenge!!! wahahah. To lead the best rag team, and to strive in academics is definitely what ive been striving to do. Its tough, sometimes stretching myself very thin and feeling like im reaching nowhere for both sides...but im still optimistic that i can do it!!! Tired as it may be, my life is surely fulfilling and filled with many challenges. BRING IT ON!!
RAG
Challenges lie ahead...definitely not something to fool around with. I will be focusing all my energies on this and bringing my team to greater heights. I am very proud of my team and the talents ive been working with...we will surely have a great fun time together and bring Science Rag to ever greater heights! YARRRR!!!
Acadamics
Man...its not been easy handling so many things, but im still enjoying Chemistry. Never had a tinge of regret for choosing Chem. My passion for it still burns...just sometimes i feel ive done injustice to it by not having more time to read up and study for it. For my future, for my passion and dreams, ive gotta do this and do this good.
My partner
Last but not least...the most important woman in my life. haha...yes we r still not officially together, but i am simply enjoying the special moments spent with her. I am truly thankful to have her by my side and we shall spend more time to know each other better. Thank you, for your support and understanding. I will strive even harder, for a better future for both of us :D.

Randomness
Its midterm "break"...ive finally given myself this short time to blog, think about things, and wonder about my life. Theres been alot alot running thru my mind all the time. and i dont really know what to blog exactly cuz theres too much to say.....
Hmm....its been a period of growth and development during the past months. theres always plenty to learn in life, and ive certainly grown stronger as a person. Heres a few perspective ive lived by for a majority of my life and sticks ever strongly till now:
Do not impose on others what you dont want imposed on you.
Live life to the fullest.
Never give up. Believe. Have faith in yourself and fight for your dreams.
...still got more...but...ahh...lost the mood to blog! LOL. the busy mode is coming back...nooooo....

Dream Series
Its been a tiring stake-out with the books. Just before i let the night lull me to sleep i will spare a moment or two to share some of my thoughts ive had settled in the very core of my soul.
Dreams.
The pursuit of my goals in life is the focus of my being, the purpose of my life. How many people have really found what they really want to do in life? Then again, am i absolutely sure that in five, ten years down the road ill still be harbouring the same dreams ive had now? I suppose no one knows what the future holds so i shall not worry myself unneccessary with that, cuz even if my goals change, i am sure i will be focused towards whatever i do. I am a guy who lives for his dreams.
My life has been full of ironies, and my dreams is no exception to it. Its always been a clash between chasing of dreams vs. realities of life. Unfortunatly, my dream of discovery and invention does not exactly meet the requirements of "success" in terms of reality and society perspectives. What does success really mean? Money? Status?
Money is the reality of life i have come to admit, but i shall never let it cloud my mind. For me, material possessions are for the survival in this world. Money makes the world go round. People spend the whole of their lives working to death. For what purpose? Mainly to make ends meet, to make sure you have a roof over your head, your family well-fed, your fines duely paid. Yes you live on, you survive in this world. You become a statistic, a person trapped in an endless cycle, just to carry on living. As days wear on, you grow more tired of life, you bow down to reality, you wait for your time to come. When you look back, will there be something you would be really proud of? Or will there be endless regrets and what-ifs?
I know myself. At the end of it all, its not the size of my account, nor the amount of material possession that matters. Its the life that ive lived. One that ive spent pursuing my dreams, doing what i really love, and being happy in it. Its what ive accomplished as a human being, not how much material possession i have as a follower of reality.
What really fuels me is the pursuit of my dreams, and an endless process of self-discovery and understanding. I know, my dreams may not lead me to riches, but i am enjoying what im doing. Its my happiness that matters. The fulfillment of my soul, the development of my being, and the enjoyment of living a life.
Dreams are my everything, and no one will ever take it away from me.
For my dreams, for my future....Fight on!!!

Life Series
Tired. Exam fatigue gnaws on the boundaries of my soul. It eats into my life energy. Much have happened since i last blogged, and i cant wait to update em. Just abit tired so ill just post a short paragraph. :)
In life, things will never always turn out the way you want it to be. Life always throws you a punch when you least expect it. For me, having come to this point in life, its not about how many punches ive received from my life experiences, its about how ive managed to get back up stronger everytime. I am not one to give up. never.
Even if the whole world is against me and my dreams, i will not give up. Cuz i know it myself - if i lose my dreams, i am nothing.
So keep on fighting. One day i will make it to the top. I can do it, and i will do it.

Whizzing by....
yo! its been quite a whirl on my life right now, so i tot ill just zip by to update myself to myself here. Since im rushing a lab report right now, my brain is working in quite a systematic point form format, i might as well use it. Here's the update so far in my life:
-Science Club Management Committee as Rag Director.
Ive never thought that role was easy and turned out i was more true than ever. Its my first time handling such a big project. The harder it is, the stronger ill become. I see it as a great challenge and i am sure i will learn alot out of this experience.
-Special Programme in Science
In a bid to pursue my dream of being outstanding ad successful in the research field (i have i feeling this dream will get bigger as i discover more of my capabilities), ive joined SPS. Im starting to get more in touch with various aspects of sciences and its been pretty interesting so far, if not time consuming. Ill be looking forward to more in depth research and collaboration with professors who share my passion.
-Family
Im starting to step more into communicating with my family. Thanks to the encouragement of my partner. Im talking more with my dad and sis. Its been great and things are definitely progressing well in my family.
-Friends
Ive been making more friends than ever. The role of Rag director pushes me to go out and meet more people, since the project im running really depends on alot of people power. I have to learn how to socialise effectively and make an impact.
-My partner
dance partner, best of friends...life partner??? Its a mature and stable bond. And its very special. I really couldnt have ask for anyone better. but we wont be together until....
-Myself
Its been crazy inside. After stepping out to the world, my inner world really is going haywire. Things inside sometimes juz stop halfway cuz i have to attend to things in the outside world. I hardly have time for my inner world and listen to my depth of thoughts. Socially, im still in the process of opening up....been meeting alot of new people so im usually more quiet at first...but im sure it'll change in time ;)
Studies....its even more hectic. with so many commitments sometimes i barely have time to finish up things. Its crazy man....24 hours is really not enough. Theres really alot of things to prioritise and think about .
Ok thats the very basic update on my life!!! I guess....its a really fulfilling and challenging phase of my life right now. The days just keep whizzing by.....gosh....
